Accepting an invitation from The Ambassador of the United States of America James B. Cunningham Mohammad Darawshe, Co-Executive Director of the Abraham Fund Initiatives attended a luncheon in honor of Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg at the residence of the U Ambassador in Herzlia on Wednesday 24 of February 2010. Only 7 members of Arab Community in Israel where invited for a thorough discussion regarding the issues facing the Arab community in Israel for their quest towards equality and integration in Israeli society.
During the discussion, Mohammad focused on the need to help the processes of integration and equality of the Arab citizens, stressing that it is ultimately the responsibility of the Israeli government, while the role of the international community is to assist in creating working models that can be expanded by the responsible agencies in the country. Mohammad added that the Arab community has all the indicators of a third world society, while living in a developed country, stressing the need for quick change of this reality, asserting that change will not only serve the Arab community's needs, but is also in Israel's best interest.
It was agreed that the consultations will continue. |
